Flexibility in programming

Vincent®s Sunflowers are less sensitive to day length than other Sunflowers, and thus provide greater flexibility in programming. Vincent®s have a better height under short days, and are not too tall under long days. This allows growers to produce high quality crops early, mid and late season.
Vincent®s Sunflowers have an extra ring of rounded, overlapping petals for better filled, more attractive flower heads. The beautiful flowers face upwards on strong stems and necks.
Vincent®s are strong and vigorous. The shorter crop cycle and concentrated harvest means increased margins!

Downy Mildew Resistant

The Natural Answer to Downy Mildew infection in Sunflowers

  • Downy mildew has created an increasing problem in Sunflower crops for the last 10 years
  • It can be categorised as a fungal infection that is transmitted primarily through ground (systemic) infection and secondarily through air-born infection
  • Up until now, the only methods used to fight the disease were use of chemicals and crop rotation
  • Chemical pesticides are environmentally unfriendly, prone to development of resistance and often subject to legislation
  • Crop rotation is impractical, costly and ineffective
  • The ideal solution is a variety that is naturally resistant to the fungus. In vegetables, mildew-resistant varieties have been bred and implemented on a wider scale
  • Following 3 years of successful testing under European conditions, Sakata introduces a new sunflower variety they can confidently claim to be Downy Mildew Resistant
  • For the ISF definition of Resistance please see: http://worldseed.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Resistance_terminology_20121.pdf
  • In 3 years of testing in EMEA under varying conditions, no systemic infection has ever been recorded. Where air-born infection is noted, as spots on the leaves for example, the varieties ‘step in’ to exclude the infiltrator and heal naturally.
